What this service does
Reserve Bank of India portal enabling retail individual investors to open Retail Direct Gilt (RDG) accounts directly with RBI to buy and sell Central Government Securities (G-Sec), Treasury Bills (T-Bills), State Development Loans (SDL), and Sovereign Gold Bonds (SGB) without paying broker commission.
Who can use it / Eligibility
Individual retail investors maintaining a rupee bank account in India with valid PAN and email/mobile.

How it works (Step-by-Step)
- 1Visit rbiretaildirect.org.in and click 'Open RBI Retail Direct Account'.
- 2Perform PAN and Aadhaar e-KYC verification.
- 3Provide bank account details for interest and redemption payouts.
- 4Upload signature specimen and complete digital onboarding.
- 5Bid in primary auctions for Sovereign Gold Bonds and Treasury Bills directly from RBI using UPI or Net Banking.
All bidding and bond custody is managed digitally via RBI.
