DigiLocker (Digital Document Wallet)

DigiLocker is a flagship initiative under Digital India by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). It provides citizens with a secure, cloud-based personal digital document wallet. Issued documents in DigiLocker (such as Aadhaar, Driving Licence, Vehicle RC, Class 10/12 marksheets, COVID-19 certificates, and insurance policies) are legally recognized as equal to original physical documents under Rule 9A of the Information Technology (Preservation and Retention of Information by Intermediaries Providing Digital Locker Facilities) Rules, 2016.

Any Indian citizen possessing an Aadhaar number and an active mobile number linked with Aadhaar.

   Visit the official DigiLocker website at https://www.digilocker.gov.in/ or download the official DigiLocker app on iOS/Android.

   Click 'Sign Up' and enter your Full Name (as per Aadhaar), Date of Birth, Gender, Mobile Number, 6-digit Security PIN, and Email ID.

   Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number and verify with the OTP received on your mobile.

   Once logged in, search for the issuer department (e.g. Ministry of Road Transport, CBSE, Income Tax, UIDAI).

   Enter the document specific parameter (e.g. Roll Number, Registration Number, PAN).

   Fetch and save the digitally signed document to your 'Issued Documents' section.
